Matthew Barcellona, MD
Dr. Matthew Barcellona was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. He completed his undergraduate education at Chapman University where he was captain of the baseball team, earned Academic All-America honors in his final two seasons, and was awarded the Cheverton Trophy, the school's top honor for a graduating student. After college, he attended Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. Dr. Barcellona returned west for his Pediatric training at the Phoenix Children's Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program. Dr. Barcellona served as Chief Resident during his final year of training.
Since joining North Scottsdale Pediatrics in 2007, Dr. Barcellona has enthusiastically embraced his role as a community pediatrician. He has served on the Newborn Committee at Scottsdale Shea, is president of the Greater Phoenix Pediatric Society, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Barcellona has been recognized as "Top Doc" by Phoenix Magazine. When asked, "Dr. B" says he most enjoys developing meaningful relationships with his patient's, families, and the community.
On his days off, you might stumble upon Dr. Barcellona fronting his rock band, Champagne Tap, which hosts many fundraisers for local charities. Dr. B and his wife, Dawn, enjoy hiking, traveling, and the occasional intense Scrabble game.
