Advice Nurse
Our Triage Nurse is available Monday through Friday at (480) 860-8488 to answer baby care questions, medication questions, or to help you decide if your child needs to be seen. If you wish to speak to the doctors, non-emergency calls are answered at the end of the afternoon and, as time permits, between appointments.
Our patient portal is designed for you to e-mail our Triage Nurse with any questions that you may have about your child.

After-Hours Medical Care
We also have after-hours Triage Nurses who are available 7 days per week at (480) 860-8488 to answer baby care questions, medication questions or to help you decide if your child needs to be seen. There are many options for after-hours medical care as outlined below.

General Guidelines for ER Referrals
In general, most children who need medical care after hours will be referred to a local emergency room. An urgent care center is only recommended for older children with a single simple complaint.
You will be instructed to take your child to the closest emergency room for the following reasons:
- Any infant under 12 months of age for any reason, refer to the ER.
- If the child is 12 months of age and has any of the following, refer to the ER:
- fever is over 104 degrees
- head injury
- difficulty breathing
- vomiting/diarrhea associated with severe abdominal pain
- seizure
- severe burn with severe blistering or burns involving hands, face or genitalia
- ingestion of medicine or other toxic substance (after your speak with Poison Control)
- If the child is over 12 months of age and has any of the following, refer to urgent care or the ER:
- ear pain
- sore throat
- cough without difficulty breathing
- extremity injury
- minor lacerations without severe bleeding
- dysuria in a child over the age of 5 years old without fevers
- rash
- vomiting/diarrhea without abdominal pain in child over the age of 5 years
- minor burn with redness of skin or some mild blistering
- minor eye infections
